How to Find Us

Slocan Lake is in the Slocan Valley in southeastern British Columbia, Canada. The lake is surrounded by the Valhalla and Selkirk mountain ranges.

To reach Slocan Lake

From Nelson: Follow Hwy. 3A west towards Castlegar. Take the Hwy. 6 turnoff and travel north. Travel time: Approximately 1 hour to Slocan; 1 ½ hours to Silverton and New Denver.

From Castlegar: Follow Hwy. 3A east towards Nelson. Take the Hwy. 6 turnoff and travel north. Travel time: Approx. 1 hour to Slocan; 1 ½ hours to Silverton and New Denver.

From Revelstoke: Follow Hwy. 23 south to Nakusp. This involves a ferry ride from Shelter Bay to Galena Bay. The ferry leaves Shelter Bay every hour on the hour, from 6 am to midnight. At Nakusp, take Hwy. 6 east to New Denver. Travel time: Approx. 2 hours to New Denver and Silverton; 2 ½ hours to Slocan.

From Kelowna: Follow Hwy. 97 north to Vernon. At Vernon, turn east on Hwy. 6. Follow Hwy. 6 to Nakusp, and continue on Hwy. 6 to New Denver. Travel time: Approx. 4 hours to New Denver and Silverton; 4 ½ hours to Slocan.

From Creston via Kootenay Lake: Follow Hwy. 3A to Crawford Bay. Take the ferry to Balfour. From Balfour, take Hwy. 31 to Kaslo and then Hwy. 31A to New Denver. Travel time: Approx. 2 ½ hours to New Denver and Silverton; 3 hours to Slocan.

 

Airports

There are airports in Castlegar (1 ½ hours south of New Denver) and Trail (2 hours south of New Denver) and Kelowna (4 ½ hours west of New Denver).
